Age of Ultron & Phase 3 (Updated)

We are currently in the middle of San Diego Comic Con, and it’s nearly time for Marvel Studios’ panel. Here’s to hoping we find out what movies we will be seeing in Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the meantime, enjoy this concept art, for Avengers: Age of Ultron, that was slowly revealed, and has now been completed.

(UPDATE) While I was expecting my twitter feed to be blown up by the end of the Marvel Studios panel at SDCC, this was not the case. Only a sequel for Guardians of the Galaxy was announced. And so the speculation continues, for what will become of Phase Three. My guess is something like this: Ant-Man, Captain America 3, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, GotG 2, Black Panther, Thor 3, Inhumans, Avengers 3.

Quotes

For a while now I’ve had a few inspirational quotes stored in the notes on my phone. The only time I really look at them, is when I’m without Wi-Fi or a 3G connection, so boredom kicks in and I go through things that don’t require the internet. Once again this week, for a day, I was without the internet, and it got me thinking about the quotes that I had kept for a while now. These days, every second post on tumblr is a quote, whether it be from a celebrity, or just a saying that has stuck over time. So since I’m always seeing words of wisdom, I forget to acknowledge, and appreciate them. Just like if you worked in a art gallery, you might forget your surroundings and the amazing artworks on the walls. I decided to fix this dilemma by starting a notebook filled with quotes. And I couldn’t think of a better cover for my “book of quotes” than The Beatles crossing Abbey Road.

My 2014 Emmy nomination reactions

10:38 (AEST) – I’ve seen a million entertainment sites tweeting about how we’re about to start. when is it really happening y’all.

10:42 – Okay seams legit now. Crosses fingers for Peter Dinklage, Tatiana Maslany, and Melissa McBride.

10:43 – Outstanding Actor in a Drama. Tough category, but you would think Cranston to take it home for the final time for his portrayal of Walter White.

10:44 – Outstanding Actress in a Drama. Maslany snubbed. Dalton Ross is just as unhappy.

10:45 – Outstanding Actor in a Comedy. Just remember that we can do better than Jim Parsons, as much as I love him though.

10:46 – Outstanding Actress in a Comedy. Dunham, Falco, Dreyfus, McCarthey, Poehler, Schling. All deserving, but if Parsons can get a nomination, why can’t Kat Dennings.

10:47 – TV Miniseries. Coven yeah?

Miles Behind Us

Something people would always say about others in high school is that they’ve changed. Like no shit. Nobody is going to be the exact same person they were when they were thirteen if they are now eighteen. But why do people say, “you’ve changed”, like it’s a bad thing. Growth in personality is good. I guess I’ve been thinking about this lately because of how much I have changed. I’m a totally different me than I was when I first started high school. But at the same time, the core of me still remains. It’s strange and I don’t even know what I’m trying to explain here, but never be afraid to explore another part of yourself, in fear of judgement for change. Change always comes whether you want it or not.

Ranking Survivor Winners (Season 1-8)

Richard Hatch, Borneo – While Hatch often gets discredited for being part of the inaugural season with a bunch of people who didn’t know what it took to win, I believe this fact makes him even more deserving of the top spot on this list. His perception of others and self-awareness, along with the fact he knew forming a voting block would be necessary, makes him the best of the first eight, and would still be in the top five for overall winners.

Sandra Diaz-Twine, Pearl Islands – “Any one but me”. While this strategy can be linked back to Vecepia three seasons earlier, Sandra really made it her own, and it is how more players need to think. She always had the intentions of booting Rupert with Christa, but the rug was pulled out from under her when FairPlay did it before she could. At the final seven she sat outside the core alliance but somehow made it to the end, and got six out of seven jury votes.

Tina Wesson, Australian Outback – Due to the edit not wanting to show off much of their winner, we didn’t get to see nearly enough off her. All I need to say here is she convinced Colby Donaldson to basically give her the million. Do you need anymore convincing on how good she was?

What Comes After

Last month I had to endure a lot of questioning about my future. One would think that half way through the year, I would have a clue. I don’t. I know as much as Jon Snow, which is nothing. Okay nothing is an over statement. I know somethings. But something isn’t a good answer to the question of what I will be doing next year and beyond. Something can be good enough for me though. Why stress about the things that are out of your control. Just enjoy today. The thing that makes all the questions so hard, is that I know what I want to happen. I just don’t want to share it with you yet. Does anyone like surprises.

What We Become

I think it was around a year ago that I gave up on VCE. By “gave up”, I don’t mean not attending classes or not even trying. I still put in effort. But I realised that what ever would come from exam results, that I wouldn’t receive until December, everything would be okay. I remember one Saturday night in June I went and saw Fast and Furious 6 (or as I refer to it “Furious 6”), and after came home to discover a new show called The Fosters. While other people were out partying, I just wanted to live a life that revolved around pop culture. I guess now I’m just reminding myself of what I really want to do, and no matter how hard it will be, I get there.

Will Grayson x2

John Green somehow always manages to create amazing stories, filled with both humour and sadness, every time he puts pen to paper. Will Grayson, Will Grayson was no exception, although this time he had help in the form of David Levithan, who creates stories with just as much wit as Green.

There was a lot happening in the book, but one thing I liked the most was the way it featured LGBT teens but it didn’t feel like it was tailor made for that audience. With one of the Will Grayson’s straight, and the other Will Grayson gay, it showed that both were going through somewhat similar things, making that it was just about love as a whole, not gay love or straight love. I won’t say anymore, but I highly suggest this book. And now I’ve decided to finish with a quote from the book, which is so true, and screams ‘the words of John Green’ all over:

“You like someone who can’t like you back because unrequited love can be survived in a way that once requited love cannot”

Here We Remain

While I felt good about knowing there would be a post credits scene at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, they make me, in a strange way, nervous. My two movie companions both turned to me at the end of the film and asked whether there would be anything else. I told them we should wait, and luckily a short scene did indeed appear to set up X-Men: Apocalypse, but imagine if I was wrong (though that doesn’t happen often).

As it is know common knowledge that Marvel films will have a mid credits or post credits scene, imagine sitting there while watching say Iron Man 4 (it’s bound to happen) and you wait through the whole credits for nothing. What a kick in the guts that would be. Maybe they could put them no more than 30 seconds after the credits start, but then more people would see it and it would be less special. So after all Hollywood, don’t listen to me.
