[contains spoilers for Avengers: Age of Ultron]
Last week a list of five young actors in the running for Spider-Man hit the web, and already sources are saying Asa Butterfield will be the one to take on the power with great responsibility.
The others on the list were Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, Liam James, and Timothee Chalamet.
Reporting that Butterfield already has the part is the Latino-Review, so it isn’t exactly Entertainment Weekly breaking the scoop, but they claim industry insiders believe he already has the role and “Marvel has liked him since day one”
In other Spider-Man news, it is rumoured his first stand alone film, after a appearance in Captain America: Civil War, will be titled “Spider-Man: The New Avenger”, which makes a lot of sense considering at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron we see Scarlett Witch, The Vision, War Machine, and Falcone in training as the newest additions to the team. Also in Phase Three will be introduced to Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, so that title for the next Spider-Man wouldn’t be extremely shocking.
Can we all just be glad Marvel use subtitles so we don’t end up with Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 or The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
